Ah, summer!
Summer is a good time because kids have holidays and you can spend at least 2 months with them. You’d think you could relax and have fun because you don’t have to worry about your children’s school anymore. But, with no school work and activities to engage them, children can easily get bored. This can lead to tantrums, foul moods, and whatnot!
Thankfully, there are multiple summer activities for children and parents alike to engage in. We have listed our favourites here for you – they are not just fun but also educational!
Visit a Water Park
Water parks are the best forms of entertainment in summer! They bring out the little kid in all of us, enabling us to forget everything and simply live in the moment. Kids, on the other hand, will never tire of creating a splash. They will appreciate it even more if you encourage it and give them the chance to unwind.
Plus, nothing beats the heat better than some water fun now, does it?
Note: You can make this a day trip or a part of a larger out-of-station trip.
Have a Picnic at a Hill Station
Living in India, we have the privilege of being surrounded by several beautiful hill stations. Plan a family picnic at a hill station near your city, such as Lonavala near Mumbai or Ooty in Tamil Nadu. Bring along a basket of snacks and enjoy the scenic views and cool weather. You can even take a short trek or hike to explore the surrounding nature.
Visit a Wildlife Sanctuary
Summer is a great time to explore wildlife sanctuaries. Some popular options include the Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand, Bandhavgarh National Park in Madhya Pradesh, Kabini National Forest in Karnataka, and Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Kerala. Take a guided safari tour to see tigers, elephants, and other exotic animals in their natural habitats.
Plan a Beach Vacation
India has a long coastline with several beautiful beaches that offer a relaxing summer getaway. Some of the best beaches include Goa, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Kovalam in Kerala. Rent a beach cottage or book a resort and enjoy the sun, sand, and sea. You can even try water sports like parasailing, jet skiing, and scuba diving.
Host a Summer Camp at Home
If you can’t travel this summer, why not bring the fun home? Host a summer camp for your kids and their friends in your backyard or terrace. You can plan different activities for each day, such as arts and crafts, sports, cooking, and storytelling. You can also teach your kids a few basic life skills, such as gardening and first aid.
Conclusion
Summer’s the right time to bond and come together as a family. Take advantage of this long vacation and plan some ultra-fun experiences for the whole family.
